Rise designs the Great American Scramble website
Great American Scramble, a start-up company focused on bringing back a national scramble-style golf tournament for amateur and pro golfers, came to Rise with a vision for a brand and website that would set them apart from the traditional golfing company.
Rise met with the Great American Scramble team extensively to get a feel for the brand’s direction and created an identity that eschewed the typical for the sleek and modern. Rise also conducted interviews with the Great American Scramble stakeholders on the requirements for the first scramble tournament’s website, and it became clear that the site would become just as much web application as website.
The site’s information architecture was developed after extensive research into the projected Great American Scramble visitor, with information and features placed at easily identifiable points to make it clear how the tournament functions. An extensive FAQ section was included, as well, to take care of any outstanding questions that the standard site content might have left out. Information was also organized by the type of golfer interested in participating—amateur or PGA pro—and the two levels of competition, Local Qualifying and the National Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada. The navigation structure’s simplicity and straightforwardness makes it simple for users to obtain the information they seek quickly, and register for their local qualifying tournament when ready.
The registration process required an advanced registration system with functionality for several types of registrations, including PGA pro, team captain, and standard local player. The application also allows users to pay via credit card, making the entire process complete. The Great American Scramble team can manage every PGA pro, team and player in all local tournaments, giving them full access to all player data and a way to see how each tournament is progressing via sign-up numbers. When a tournament is complete the PGA pro can login to their administration area and assign winners to the national tournament.
On the first day of the Great American Scramble site’s launch three local tournaments were created. The Great American Scramble continues to enroll local tournaments and players daily as they move forward to the National Championship, thanks to the comprehensive identity, website design, and web application solutions provided by Rise.
